From Donaldson's History
The history of Donaldson began in 1915 with a small workshop and three-person staff who began to make air purifiers for agricultural tractors. Today Donaldson has its branches in 44 countries.
100 years of experience
The Donaldson company was founded in 1915, when Frank Donaldson Sr. invented an elementary air purifier to troubleshoot farmers with tractors. In 1920, the design prevented fires caused by sparks in the engine. The success of systems in agricultural technology has led to the development of systems for mining markets.
Until 1950, Donaldson equipment was already sold all over the world, and licensing agreements with foreign companies were drawn up. Quality products and good customer relations have greatly accelerated international development. In 1958, Donaldson opened an office in England to support Caterpillar, and today Donaldson serves the needs of its customers in 19 countries around the world.
In the 1970s, Donaldson opens a dust pickup unit for Torit®, which expands in 1087 and is leading the dust collecting market. At present, the industrial technologies of the company in the field of air filtration are used in various industries: welding, pharmaceuticals, woodworking, chemistry, fabrication of metal structures, foundry production, food industry and composites.
In the 1970's, the company used its technology to create innovations in the field of air filtration of gas turbines. Today, Donaldson creates and produces filtration systems for gas turbines and equipment for the production of energy, oil and gas.
The advent of compact disc technology in the 1980s prompted them to use their systems for microfiltration. As a result, this development has made it possible for Donaldson to provide new installations for such enhancements as room cleaning, semiconductor devices, car and airplane cabs.
The 1990s were a time of rapid growth for Donaldson. The company's global capabilities and technical capabilities have greatly expanded: Aercology (dust collectors), AirMaze (compressor equipment) and DCE (specialization in sleeve filters). Due to active growth in the 1990s, Donaldson opened a new center in Rensselaer, Indiana, which is now the centerpiece of delivery for industrial spare parts.
